Overview
The Old Man Emu BP-51 Front Right Coilover is a premium high-performance suspension upgrade designed for the 2019–2023 Ford Ranger. Developed and tested by ARB's Old Man Emu suspension engineers, the BP-51 combines a large 51mm bore with bypass technology and independent compression and rebound adjustment to provide an excellent balance of on-road comfort and off-road control.
Unlike conventional shocks that primarily generate damping based on piston velocity, the BP-51 bypass design also varies damping based on piston position within the shock body. This allows the suspension to remain compliant through normal driving conditions while progressively increasing control as the suspension approaches the limits of its travel. The adjustable design also allows Ranger owners to fine-tune suspension performance based on vehicle weight, accessories, terrain, and driving preferences.

Construction & Design
The BP-51 coilover features a 51mm bore and 6061-grade aluminum shock body, providing excellent strength, corrosion resistance, and heat dissipation. A hard-chromed and precision-ground piston shaft provides additional durability, while an impact-resistant polyethylene shaft guard helps protect critical components from rocks, mud, and trail debris.
The bypass design combines velocity-sensitive and position-sensitive damping to provide controlled suspension movement throughout the shock's travel. Oversized rubber bushings and vehicle-specific mounting components further contribute to durability and proper suspension operation.
Installation & Fitment
The Old Man Emu BP5190013R is designed for the front right/passenger side of the 2019–2023 Ford Ranger. Its vehicle-specific design utilizes existing factory mounting locations without requiring additional vehicle modifications.
The coilover has an approximately 503mm open length and 402mm closed length. Because this is a side-specific suspension component, BP5190013R should be installed on the right/front passenger side of the vehicle. The corresponding left/front coilover is sold separately.
