Overview
The Old Man Emu BP-51 Front Left Coilover is designed to provide premium suspension performance, adjustability, and control for the 2019–2023 Ford Ranger. Developed by ARB's Old Man Emu suspension engineers, the BP-51 combines a large 51mm bore with position-sensitive bypass technology and independently adjustable compression and rebound damping.
The BP-51 bypass design generates damping based on both piston velocity and piston position within the shock body. This allows the suspension to remain comfortable and compliant during normal driving while providing increased control as the suspension moves through more demanding sections of its travel. Independent compression and rebound adjustment allows the coilover to be tuned for different vehicle setups, loads, terrain, and driving preferences.

The Old Man Emu BP-51 features a 51mm bore with position-sensitive bypass damping technology designed to balance everyday ride comfort with increased off-road suspension control. Independent compression and rebound adjusters allow the damping characteristics to be fine-tuned while installed on the vehicle. The coilover also features a hard-chromed and precision-ground piston shaft, impact-resistant polyethylene shaft guard, durable rubber bushings, and vehicle-specific construction designed around the Ranger's factory suspension mounting locations.
Construction & Design
The BP-51 coilover features a 6061-grade aluminum shock body that provides excellent strength, heat dissipation, and corrosion resistance. Aluminum construction helps transfer heat away from the shock oil more efficiently during demanding suspension use.
The internal bypass design provides position-sensitive damping in addition to conventional velocity-sensitive damping. This allows the shock to provide a compliant response through the normal ride zone while progressively increasing control as the suspension approaches the limits of its travel.
Installation & Fitment
The Old Man Emu BP5190013L is designed for the front left/driver-side suspension of the 2019–2023 Ford Ranger. The vehicle-specific coilover utilizes the Ranger's existing suspension mounting locations.
The coilover features an open length of 631mm and closed length of 402mm.
