Overview
The Old Man Emu BP-51 Rear Right Shock Absorber is designed to provide premium suspension performance for the 2019–2023 Ford Ranger. Combining a large 51mm bore, remote reservoir, position-sensitive bypass technology, and adjustable damping, the BP-51 delivers a balance of comfortable everyday ride quality and increased suspension control in demanding off-road conditions.
The BP-51's internal bypass design varies damping based on the position of the piston within the shock body. This allows the shock to remain compliant through the normal operating range while progressively increasing damping as the suspension approaches the limits of its travel. Independent compression and rebound adjustment also allows the shock's performance to be fine-tuned for different vehicle setups, loads, terrain, and driving preferences.

The BP-51 shock body, remote reservoir, and major components are manufactured from 6061-T6 aluminum for excellent strength, heat dissipation, and corrosion resistance. A Type III hard-anodized finish provides additional protection against corrosion, stone impacts, and harsh off-road conditions.
The position-sensitive bypass design provides increased damping near the limits of suspension travel while maintaining a more compliant response through the normal ride zone. The remote reservoir increases available oil volume and helps maintain consistent damping performance during extended use.

The Old Man Emu BP5160049R is designed for the rear right/passenger-side suspension of the 2019–2023 Ford Ranger. It features a vehicle-specific design that installs using the Ranger's existing suspension mounting locations.
